University Education: Teaching Methodology in Higher Education (open access MOOC)

 

Invitation for an open access MOOC educational cycle entitled:
University Education: Teaching Methodology in Higher Education

The Teaching and Learning Support Center of the University of Crete (K.E.D.I.M.A. TotT) invites the teaching staff to attend an asynchronous open access MOOC training course entitled “University Education: Teaching Methodology in Higher Education”.  In the educational cycle, eight thematic units concerning teaching are presented:
1. Student-centered learning
2. Inclusive Learning
3. Course Design/Restructuring of curricula
4. Formative Assessment
5. Students as Equal Partners
6. Connecting Teaching and research
7. Digital equality and
8. Digital readiness

Expected length of time to complete the cycle is 8 weeks (with 2 hours each week) and expected end date 08/01/2024 when certificates of successful completion will be given.

Participants will need to create an account on the open academic courses platform of the University of Crete (https://opencourses.uoc.gr/courses) by clicking on the following link: https://opencourses.uoc.gr/courses/login/signup.php. After obtaining an account and connecting to the platform, they can register for the course at the following link: https://opencourses.uoc.gr/courses/course/view.php?id=385“.

A sample of the content and activities in the MOOC can be found on the website of the Teaching and Learning Support Center of the University of Crete (K.E.D.I.M.A. TotT) https://tott.uoc.gr and in its initial announcements asynchronous educational cycle.
Participants are expected to participate at least once in the forums of each module, complete the activities (quizzes, self-assessment, matching etc.) and ask a question in the Peer-coaching module (All these account for 50% of the course). The final report represents the remaining 50% of the course assessment. Upon completion of all course requirements, they will receive a certificate of successful completion of the training course.

With an open approach to how University Education can evolve in Greek HEIs, the University of Crete and the Teaching and Learning Center ΤΟΤΤ@UOC invites the coordinators of KEDIMA to inform all teaching staff in all University Institutions in Greece.
